For the past 15 years I’ve fished for world record class blue marlin from the Atlantic island of Madeira. Prior to that I spent 26 years fishing for the giant black marlin of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. I’ve tried every hook on the market and finally, frustrated at being unable to buy a super strong hook of the right size and design for lure fishing I designed my own. My aim was to produce the strongest hook on the market for sportfisherman. I believe I’ve succeeded.
This hook has been more than two years in the planning, design and production. Stainless steel hooks look pretty but they don’t have the strength that I wanted. Finally I achieved my goal.
Made in Japan of the finest high carbon steel; hardened and tempered, then hand finished to a razor edge. Protected with a tinned finish plus a zinc anode for ultimate corrosion protection. These hooks retain their sharpness like no other on the market.
The ringed eye is tapered and welded. The shank is also extra heavy at the barb so the point will not sheer off under lateral stress.
I fished the 10/0 hooks on my lures for more than 100 days during the 2011 season in Madeira. Apart from the usual marlin bill scratches there was not a mark on them. Testament to the quality of the heavy tinned finish and the cathodic protection offered by the zinc anode.
