Fish the world famous Pemba channel aboard Broadbill,
a 46 foot twin diesel sportfisher, or Kamara, a 32 foot
custom sportfisher. Blue, Black and Striped Marlin,
Sailfish, Yellowfin tuna, Dorado, Kingfish, Wahoo, Mako
and Tiger shark are regular catches.
Kenya is also probably the most consistent location
for Broadbill Swordfish in the world. Combine this with
a game viewing safari for the vacation of a lifetime.
Situated at Turtle bay, alongside the Watamu marine
national Park, is Hemingways Resort. Named after the
man himself, Hemingways is no ordinary hotel though.

Renowned Australian Captain Peter Bristow is now based
in Madeira. Operating a 40 foot Nelson sportfisher,
the Katherine B., he fishes the rich waters around the
island for giant Atlantic Blue Marlin, Bluefin and world
class Big eye Tuna (largest to date 375 lb). Incidental
catches include White marlin, Dorado, Yellowfin tuna
and Wahoo.
Madeira was once a centre of the whaling industry and
he also runs trips to view the whales and dolphins which
have now returned to their traditional feeding grounds.
Captain Bristow has caught almost 2000 Black Marlin
including 49 over 1000 lb during his 38 year career.
The largest? 1323 lb. It's safe to say that you're in
good hands aboard the Katherine B.
British skipper Ron Cowling has fished the waters of
Madeira since 1990, running boats on behalf of their
owners. He made one owner very proud indeed in 1995
by winning the coveted marlin world cup with a fabulous
blue marlin of 953 lb.
In 1999 Ron brought his own boat, the Our Mary, from
England. A 31 foot diesel powered Mitchell sportfisher,
she is fully equipped with 30lb / 50 lb / 80 lb and
130 lb Penn International and Shimano tackle.
Together with mate Russell Housby, Ron has formed one
of the most successful crews in Madeira, their largest
blue marlin of 2000 was estimated at 1100 lb before
being released. Spearfish, white marlin, big eye and
bluefin tuna as well as wahoo of staggering proportions
have come aboard, along with dorado and many smaller
tuna species.

Fishing the waters of the Eastern Algarve, Esmeralda
Azul is a 33 foot Aquabell sportfisherman. Owned by
IGFA World record holder Paul Delsignore, Esmeralda
Azul is fitted with Lee outriggers and equipped with
30 lb, 50 lb, and 80 lb class Shimano tackle.
She specialises in trolling during the summer months
for Blue and White marlin (the Algarve Blue marlin record
stands at over 1300 lb), Bluefin and Skipjack tuna.
In the spring and Autumn Blue and Mako sharks move in,
and there's great bottom fishing for corvina, snapper
and pargo all year round.

Between July and September each year large numbers
of white marlin move along the Algarve coastline. When
the white marlin are running 8 —10 shots a day
is not uncommon, but you’ll need to be a skilful
angler to hook up with these tricky fish.
Other species present at this time of year include
blue marlin, bluefin tuna, spearfish, skipjack tuna,
dolphin, bluefish; blue, mako and hammerhead sharks
and broadbill swordfish.
