Captain Spike's Tips and Techniques

return knot

The return knot is a good knot for tying hooks or lures to heavy monofilament, although it works best on hooks with turned down eyes. It’s not a tricky knot and anyone can tie it with just a few minutes practice.

return pic 11) Pass the line through the hook eye. Wrap the line around the hook, and hold the loop between the thumb and forefinger.

return pic 22) Wrap the line around the hook again and hold both loops in place.

return pic 33) Pass the line under both loops. Pull gently on the standing part of the line whilst making sure that the loops stay around the hook shank. You can use your finger and thumb to hold the loops in position.

return pic 44) Finally lubricate with saliva and pull the knot up tight

Always remember to test all knots before fishing

Good Fishing!
