How to tie the Albright knot

1) Turn back about 4 - 6 inches (10 - 15 cm) of the leader. This can be monofilament, light cable, nylon coated wire or single strand wire. Lay the lighter mainline alongside the doubled leader, and commence wrapping as shown. Albright knot 1

2) Make 10 - 20 wraps, the lighter the line, the more wraps you will require. The tag end of the line must exit from the same side of the looped leader that it entered, this is important. Lubricate the knot with saliva and pull tight, gently snugging up the coils as you tighten.

Albright knot 2

This knot takes a little practice to get right, but it makes an excellent strong connection between a heavy leader and a lighter mainline.

Always remember to test all knots before fishing

Good Fishing!
